I have a frigidaire fridge and it's about 3 years old. It has a water & ice dispenser. Lately, at the base of the dispenser there seems to be some mysterious brown gooey liquid seeping down along the fridge.
We took the dispensing area apart to see what was causing this, but found nothing. It seems that every few days I'm cleaning this gooey drool off my fridge.
It really drives me crazy that I don't know what it is!
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

As luck would have it my ex who is a maintenance man just called so I asked him if he had an answer for you. He said, and I quote, "That's a tough one. It could be slimy water." Where the water feed comes into the top of the dispenser there is a connection. There could be a leak at that connection. I told him that the substance was gooey and how could it be water but he said that the water could be sitting on top of the dispenser box and because it is not evaporating it starts to get dark and slimy. When enough builds up it will come out the frame. Also, if the insulation is damp it can cause discoloration of the water. He then said that was just an educated guess and that the other possibility could be excess adhesive. There is an adhesive used under the frame around the water dispenser and if too much was used the excess adhesive gets soft from the heat and will seep out.
Don't know if either of these 2 responses will help you but if they do please let me know so I can tell him how smart he is

That's interesting that I finally got an email response from Frigidaire today. They said:
"This is a 1998 unit, it is probably foam seeping out of the door or a water foam mixture, please contact a local servicer to have the unit checked out thanks."
Thanks guys!
Georgia, call your ex back and tell him that he's smart! I know you want to. AND he'll appreciate it.

Oh man there will be no stopping him now! He's a "good ol' boy" who thinks he knows everything - lol. But I'm gonna call him now and tell him how proud I am of him and that I appreciated his input
