DEER! can't keep deer out of wifes garden nor can I express myself easily. don't like the idea of electric fence around garden. Was thinking is there a way to control a sound devise with a motion detector(instead of the lights on)to control possibly with a relay & transformer to ring a buzzer or bell, dont want a radio on at 3AM for 3 or 4 minutes. wish to tinker with this idea, there are friends but the lights coming on only just helps them in finding the napkins when done eating?????? got any ideas or help. TY

Seems to me the simplest solution would be the motion detector with an adapter screwed into the socket in place of a light. A bell transformer connected to the adapter and a doorbell or buzzer connected to the transformer.

In the movie "The Rookie" they used human hair to keep deer off of the baseball field in order to grow grass. The film is based on a true story. I don't know if it works, but perhaps it's worth a shot! You can get some human hair at your local barber shop.

Click here for a commercial product that promises the results you want.

Garden.com lists the following plants that will deter deer from entering a garden:

yarrow, foxglove, artemisia, astilbe, thyme, iris, oriental poppy, daffodil, lamb's ear, shasta daisy, bleeding heart, dead nettle, and gloriosa daisy.

I'm no gardener or deer expert, but hope these will in some way help...'fuse

It will only work on windy nights, but in places where deer frequently cross highways, you can often find deer whistles that attach to your car. It gives off a pitch unnoticeable to us but audible to deer when the wind passes through.
