The old lady who lived here before this old lady moved in apparently had someone come in and program her thermostat. It's one of the older Honeywell models "Chronotherm III" probably made in the 70s. Sometimes it won't come on, sometimes it won't shut off, so I think the buttons I'm pushing are intereferring with her program, etc.

Is there any way to clear all the programming and start over? It will cost me at least $100 to get an expert over here.

Thanks for any help.

Having installed and programed many thermostat like yours, even I can't tell you how to do it.

New programable thermostats are available from your local do it yourself stores for about 40 to 60 dollars and are much more efficent then the old Chronothem III. Much like the ones bedstor refered you to.

Then other problem you might run in to is sometimes people "Lock" the programing so it can't be changed. With out being there, I can't help you. See if bedstor site can help you.

PS, Found this site and it looks like it will help also:

Thank you so much, Miracle Worker, (WOW) for that link. I don't know why it never occurred to me to do a search for Honeywell. It's an amazing link, too, offering what amounts to a tutorial.

Bedstor, is there ANY limit to your talents? Everywhere I go on AP you are there, answering question after question! Do you ever sleep? Eat? breathe? As I shamelessly strip the knowledge from your busy head, I thank my good fortune that you are a member of this club. I bow to you.

Does that mean you couldn't open the link? Do you need me to cut and paste it and send it to you in an e-mail or something?

No, darlin' it means I'm wrestling with an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program which allows me to transfer my employer's sound files on their website to my computer. Finally did get it working, somewhat. No, I haven't tried the link yet, will do so when quittin' time rolls around.
