well, my mom has had yet another problem with teenagers breaking into her garage to drink and wrecking something.

this time, they unplugged her chest freezer, and everything has melted.
there was no meat, but a lot of ice cream stuff.
the water is full of floating green (mouldy) masses of grossness.

anyone have suggestions on how to clean the deepfreeze to make it usable again? i was supposed to get the thing, which is the only reason we found out about it.

after dumping out the crudy water (I would suggest gloves, bucket and holding your breath). follow with a solution of 1/4 cup bleach to a bucket of warm soapy water. Wash it all out.

Then leave the door open and let it dry out completely.

If it still smells (which is possible), get a large box of baking soda (10 lb size) pour all the baking soda out on the floor of the freezer, spread it out evenly, close the door and leave it off for about three days.

Then use clean water and wash the inside again.

The bleach will kill mold spores, the baking soda will absorb odors.

You may still have a faint smell, if that is the case, repeat the bleach and water, then make a paste out of fresh baking soda andspread it at the water line of the melted stuff and water -
