have neighbor down road wishes to set trailor on his land. would like electrical power brought in from electic co.they require meter pedestal, wishes only a 100amp service with minimal circuits.Have electrical experience but not in this line of work. my question would be relating more to the physical mounting of said meter pedestal and water proof 100amp breaker panel? was thinking of setting couple 4x4s and either treated plywood or some treated 1x4s or 1x6s what evers available in area, for backing and mount pedestal to it and pipe out side bend up to bottom of w/p cir panel mount and put couple GFI's below panel.(all he's lookin for now)recomended 200amp says naw don't need it, his choice.Aware #3 for service lines will use #4 for mech ground, along with 2 8'grnd rods 6' spread and proper bonding and bushings for conduit.poss 16 cir panel if available. any input would be appreciated. TY he also can get required permit as home or land owner.? could service entrance cable be used? think conduit would be safer! Ts again.
Contact your local Electrical Company. If they are anything like Ameran Electric company here in St. Louis, they can provide you with a Specification Sheet detailing what you will need to install a Pedastal type Meter Box.
Yes I would use rigid conduit rather than Service Entrance cable from the Meter Box into the Trailer.
Conduit is not a requirement of the 2002 NEC code, only an annex that gives nominal sizes for the wires specified. In your case I would recommend at least 1 1/4-inch conduit for three AWG No. 3 copper wires with a AWG No. 4 copper Bare wire for the Ground.
