Vinyl siding question

I will be getting my home (A high ranch) vinyl sided this spring. I have been looking into getting the front of the house done in vertical siding as opposed to horizontal siding. I want it to look like vertical wood planks. I had a few salespeople provide quotations, but not one of them could provide me with a local home to look at. I want to make sure it will look like I want it to look.

I am thinking of a light oak finish, or something similar to that. Does anyone know of any links with photos, or have any experience with vertical vinyl siding? I’ve been looking, but I keep coming up empty.

You may want to look for yourself if you haven't done already.

As personal experience, we had our home built with Byrd white vertical vinyl siding, acadian style.

It has been 17 years and always looks good. It is easy to keep clean. We use a bleach and water solution once a year.

Just be sure it is installed correctly. The planks have to float. Ours has been through high winds from hurricanes with no problems.

Here in south Louisiana lots of homes are done in siding or brick with siding trim.

I did see most of those sites, but was unable to find what I was looking for. I finally did get a light wood texture vertical vinyl siding sample from a company. My wife and myself have decided to go with it.
We also live in an area that has seen its share of hurricanes. That is one reason I decided to go with the company with the best track record, and warrantee. The fact that they have been in business a long time (35 years) helped.
