My refrigerator won't stop running! It's been running for about 3 days now, but yesterday morning, for a couple of hours, it cut off. A repair man came and vacuumed out the area with the coils (underneath the refrigerator in my model), and removed a bunch of hair, dirt, pet dander, etc. but it didn't have any effect. It's still running today.

Both the freezer and fridge part are kind of warm. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I spent $60 yesterday just to have the guy vacuum underneath the fridge... that made me mad. Needless to say I'm short on money and I'm wondering if I should try to get it repaired or just get a new one.

Realistically, you got mad because it cost you $60.00 for something you could easily have done yourself for nothing. You neglect to say how old, big, or expensive your present refrigerator is, so it would be difficult for any refrigerator expert to tell you what you should do. I recently paid about $150 bucks to have a circulating fan replaced in mine, but my fridge was fairly new and big and worth about $2000 to replace. If I had decided not to replace the fan, I would probably still have had to pay $50 or $60 for the service call.

What is wrong is that you didn't actually get what you paid for. You should call the service company back and request that they actually do service to fix the problem or tell you what the problem is. If you make this call and tell them that you don't feel like the guy did what he was paid for then perhaps they will come back and attend to the problem rather than just cleaning the dust and dirt off.

You should at the very least have heard from them whether your refrigerator is beyond fixing or if there is something that can be done. I certainly wouldn't pay the service company again to do nothing.

that sounds like a refrigerant problem but if its an old machine its better to get a newer model. or buy a good used one and save up for a newer model
(it could be the pump going out or a censer )

I decided to just get a new one, because it's still doing the same thing as before. It's just not worth the money to try to fix it.

Thanks for the advice guys!
