My dad will put in an outdoor light so we can play basketball at night, only he wants me to pick out the light! Our goal is on a garage that is away from the house but the garage has electricity inside for lights, tools and other stuff.
The part we want to light up is about 20 feet x 30 feet. The garage is 2 stories tall with a unfinished room upstairs.
Can anyone here pick out a light for this that will be really bright but won't get in our eyes too much?
Contact the local power company and see if they will install a security light. I'm in North Carolina (howdy neighbor) and use Duke Power. The previous residents of my house had a security light installed by Duke Power, lighting up an area on the side of the house.
I had the service disconnected for the light. It ran about $6.00 a month.

You do NOT want to install the light on the Garage. That would obviously mast out the goal & also probably create glare when trying to put the ball in the hoop.
Nccichid is right. Call your Electrical Service provider & have them install a security light on a thirty foot pole somewhere near the center of the court & back from the court about six feet. I would have then install a 150-watt high pressure sodium type lamp fixture. You could have the service provide wire this from the garage so that you can install a switch to control the lights & not have them on all the time.
The light at the center of the court will provide ample intensity to see the Goal & also provide a reasonable amount of light for the garage when you come in from somewhere at night.
You will accomplish two goals at once. Provide light for the basketball goal & enough light to make safety to & from the garage much better at night.
