I am about to redo an oak kitchen table and wife wants polyurethane on it. Curently only have paste wax on the table and it was bare oak when we bought it. I am prepared to use Mineral Spirits to remove the wax, and then foam brush to prevent hairs in the mix, and then after dry use a rottenstone to polish like glass. Am I doing this correctly? I will have some paint thinnner handy to thin stuff on the foam from time to time. No bubbles hopefully will result. Okay? Appreciate input.
