I have a bathroom wall light fixture that has 4 sockets for light bulbs. Two 40 watt bulbs are enough light to light up the room. The light fixture is partially covered. Is it ok to leave the other two light sockets empty or is best to put in dead light bulbs?

I certainly hope it's OK to leave the other sockets open - since we do this all the time in the kitchen, the bathroom, and several lamps and have never had any problems.

I was curious about the 'humidity factor' here, since my son takes such unbelievably hot showers.

JewseyTomater:

I beleive that there is a safety factor here that is being overlooked.

When you do nOt have anything in the socket chances are someone could get his fingers into them and receive a good shock.

If you have no means to cover the sockets, I would suggest that you leave old used lamps in the sockets for safety reasons.
