My TV stopped responding to the remote. Also the buttons on the TV would not respond. Had to unplug.

Took (the big heavy thing) to Radio Shaq. A few quick nothings and it works fine.

Lugged (the big heavy thing) home - plugged it in and nothing.

Back to Radio Shaq and bought the new remote that the Tech had programed the code in - when he worked on it.

Came home - tried the new remote - nothing.

Lugged (the big heavy thing) back to Radio Shaq - The Tech plugged it in - works fine with (both) the old remote and the new remote.

I think the Gods are mad at me.....

YES; NO

If YES, then it is strictly a Remote problem.

2.) Can you turn the TV on with the Remote if you get closer to the TV?

YES; NO

IF YES, then you need new batteries in your Remote.

#2 question. Did not try this, but will store that tip away to use in the future.

Now the rest of the story: Radio Shaq played it for a couple of days - turning it off/on - volume up/down - channels up/down - with and w/out the remote. They found nothing.

I lugged that thing home [it's getting bigger and heavier] - plugged it in and its been working perfect ever since.
