I have an upolstered rocking chair, the kind with a swivel/spring. The giant spring has worn out causing the chair to tip way to much. I was thinking of turning it into a regular legged chair. What would be the proper way to attach chair legs. Are legs available with hardware to attach it to box-like frame? No fancy legs are needed just sturdy, the chair has a skirt to the floor (legs need to be approx. 4- 5in. tall).

I found, at Lowes, various sized pre-made wooden legs for chairs, etc. I did buy one for replace a broken couch leg. I am sure you could do that for the rocker.

You would need to buy from Lowes (or other building center store) the metal parts (appliances) for chair legs that you like that will match the chair style.

In the base of the chair you will need to drill holes... there are cylindrical pieces that can be inserted into those holes that have a screw bevel inside so that the legs screw into the chair base into metal not wood.

Then you get the chair legs with screw-spikes and then screw them into those threaded metal pieces in the holes.

I am sure one of the builders on here can be more specific about names, but if you ask an Associate, they can lead you to the right hardware.

Good luck!

Thanks Sherasi, We don't have a Lowes close by, so I'll try Home Depot first and see if they have those legs. If not it's off to visit a Lowes for my first time. Smile
