I'm a bassoonist and im in 8th grade now and i love music and want to pursue it in marching band. But as you may know there is now marching bassoons if there are any suggestions on what instrument i should play give me your response.

Unless you'd like to try something completely different, maybe you could try another woodwind instrument?

With the embouchure you've developed, you could easily play clarinet or one of the saxes. My opinion for a marching band is that you'd do best with an alto sax. While heavier than a clarinet, it has the advantage of a neck strap. (Don't laugh. Marching band practices are very tiring, especially in the August sun.)

Is there a chance i could play the piccolo or bass clarinet? I've always been intrested in them.

Of course there is. While I am not sure about the bass clarinet, I know that the piccolo is used in marching bands. Contact the marching band instructor now, and ask for his opinion. If the piccolo is OK, try to rent one now and start learning. Learning the basics while learning march patterns is, at best, a difficult job, but if you go into marching season knowing how to play, you'll do fine.

Good luck! Band is a very difficult and time-consuming activity in school, but the rewards are great and last your entire life.
