The Bodies of Stratocasters are usually Poplar or Ash, The necks are almost always Hard rock maple, the fretboards are ebony, rosewood and maple. The Ash body is most often used on transparent finished and poplar is normally used on painted bodies. These are in reference to American made Fenders, and the Japanese, Korean and Mexican versions use a multitude of woods, that are less expensive.
