Question:
how do you get a guitar to have distortion without a pedal? Becuase as far as i know thats the only way you get it.

Choices:

Here are some ways to achieve distortion without an effects pedal:

1. Use the feature built into many electric guitar amplifiers (often called "overdrive" - on Marshalls also look for "crunch" and "lead");

2. On a tube amp, crank it. Distortion will occur when the tubes reach saturation. This will be at a very high volume; a pre-amp may be installed that will assist in achieving the effect at lower volumes.
