I found a pack online with a mandolin and a guitar for 80 bucks. I realize they're not top-quality instruments, but it's a started guitar for my brother, and a little mandolin for my boyfriend to toy around with. He doesn't care about quality, or excellent sound, it'll be his toy for the next 6 months. Is it worth it? I'm thinking so, but I wanted any pro/amateur opinions before I spring for it. They have full refunds, p.s.
Although this kit is only $89, it did start out at $298. It certainly sounds a good deal for a starter kit. Looking at this offer, I would say it's a middle of the road instrument, good for beginners, but without a great outlay. With musical instruments, you get exactly what you pay for. Very cheap instruments are more like toys and should be avoided. The quality of sound is very poor and beginners will give up the instrument much quicker. Seeing as they offer full refunds, you have nothing to lose. If you don't like it when it comes, just send it back. Good luck!
