Is it true that you have to press a pedal every five minutes because it "runs out" of sound, because in a concert i wanted to tape my pedal up so it would alweays be held so i could jump around and stuff. My friend said it wouldnt work because it would run out of sound, is this true?

Are you speaking of guitar effects pedals? If so, your friend is pulling your strings! The guitar, an unpowered device, provides a signal to an amplifier, which boosts that signal's intensity. Effects pedals, which are powered and usually operate with a foot switch, change the signal between the guitar and the amplifier but don't provide the "sound." Provided an effects pedal is powered, you may keep it on all night long if desired without stepping on the foot switch again (it would be unusual, however, not to switch back and forth between combinations of pedals to achieve your desired sound).
