Was just curious. How many of you have made friends with a member of the opposite sex via different internet sites? Nothing wierd, I mean just really friends that you email on a regular basis and does your spouse know about it?

I have become fairly close friends with several people I met on-line, both men and women, and, yes, of course my husband knows this.

There are a few people that I have met through internet sites, usually The Witches Voice . We e-mail and share ideas and thoughts and such. I don't know whether my husband knows or not. It's not really his concern. If I end up physically meeting one of these people, then I let him know.

Yes, a few, and no, my husband doesn't know, because he hasn't asked. I'm not gonna volunteer and tell him. As long as I'm not meeting anyone in person, I think he'd be pretty cool about it.

What about you, BlueIce? Are you married, and if you are, spill your guts. Smile

I MET my late wife on the internet, and we both had many friends we had met previously on the Net...many of them the same friends as we met in a chat room with a high volume of traffic.

And we both new about each other's friends and didn't bother either of us.

HONILOV ~ Yes, I'm married and made a male friend about a year ago at AskJeeves. We email eachother twice a week or so. We have exchanged pictures of ourselves and our spouses, we don't have kids, but he's also sent me picutures of his children. We both consider eachother good friends and yet have never met and have no plans to. Yes, my husband knows, he teases me about it, he calls this guy my internet boyfriend. I don't think he is completely comfortable with it, but he'll get over it.

Good question BlueIce. I'm not married but I have been on the receiving end of many instant messages and e-mails from men who are married. The first thing I always ask is "Are you married" and if they say "yes" the next thing I ask is "Does your wife know that you chat with women on the internet". If the answer is "no" my answer is "buh-bye".

BlueIce, I haven't gone far enough to send pictures yet, and I don't think I will. I can understand your husband not being comfortable with that. Sending pics are a step above just an email, so your husband might be wondering if there will be another step. Big Grin

I do admit that there's a sort of closeness with internet buddies, that's hard to describe.

No, I myself am not married. I used to have a friend, who was a guy, on the internet, who was. He never told me he was married(at least not right away). We talked for 3 years. Then one day he fiannly tells me he is married when he says his wife just had a baby...

It was odd because that was when he also told me how him and his wife didn't live together. His wife lived with her mother. He said it was because he had gross spending habits and almost had them into bankruptcy and decided until he could change, she should live with her mother. He said they were still very happily married but just not together. That made no sense too me whatsoever.

Did his wife know we talked almost everyday for 3 years? Probably not. Do you think she may have gotten upset if she ever found out? Yes Especially when she learned he failed to mention he was married? Yes.

I did meet my 2 former fiancess over the Internet. The first one(3 years) was in San Fransisco, about 15 hours from me, and the 2nd one(2 years) lived in Bend, about 6 hours from me. The first guy never told his buddies, or any other girl he met, he had a girlfriend and that he was engaged. That is why we broke up.

I don't think I would feel comfortable talknig to a married guy unless his wife knew. Or even if he was engaged or was in a serious LTR. Not unless she knew. I always made sure they knew who I was talking too. I feel it all apart of being honest. If I can't tell my fiance or my husband that I am talking to some other guy on the internet, then I would feel I was not being totally honest with him.

I have made several friends here at the Pool, both male and female. Smile
Sometimes we e-mail each other, talk on messengers, or (most often) in Chat.
And yes, my husband knows about them! (In fact, sometimes he'll wander by when I'm in Chat, peer at the screen, and say "What's THAT all about?" I will try to explain the conversations, but will usually lose him. )

well, 95% of my real life friends are guys, and matt has no problem with that (i would leave if he did), so he has NO problem with my guy internet friends.
honestly, i dont think he cares.
he trusts me completly, just as i trust him.
getting all worked up over an internt friend of the opposite sex is jealousy rearing its ugly head. if they cant accept you having that friend, how are they going to handle it in real life?

Well almost al of my friends are guy friends, and Charles hasn't had a problem with it so far. The only time that he has a problem with it is when they act up and try to do something. But I mean who wouldn't get upset about that?
