I've been dating my current girl friend for a long long time and I decided that things are not going to work out between us and me being a few years from 30 I want to try a new route. We both were high school sweet hearts and have been together ever since so I haven't had any experience on the dating scene as she was my first and only girl friend. How do I go about finding someone new? I've herd of all these dating sites and wonder if that's the way to go. I really don't want to just go from day to day wondering if I'm going to find that right girl. What do I do? Thanks.

It has been my experience that I seem to meet more people I am compatitble with when I seek social events that fit my interests. In my case, many years back I went on Sierra Club events (hikes and trail cleaning/management) and met some incredible people, one who I dated for a bit.

Be it dancing, sports, or even charitable work... whatever it is, you generally start off with an edge... knowing already at least one thing you have in common.

Another tip, look to make a few friendships rather than look to just go out and meet the "right one". When you always put that bar in front of any date you set standards that are not realistic.

Anyhow, good luck in your quest.

You can't get to know someone just on social sites. You have to meet and spend time together so as to know each other and agree with dogspit,the best place to meet people and get to know them is attending social events.
