I'm sorry, this is a wholly whiny post, so please ignore it if you aren't in the mood for whining.

Back a few months ago my dad got in a really bad motorcycle accident and had to be airlifted to a trauma center. He almost died.

Well, his injuries are healed, mostly, but his psyche seems to be damaged. Or lets say, he's lost his spirit. My dad was a biker (like, motorcycle gang biker dude), an amateur body builder, collected and repaired antique cars, always on the go, always doing something. He's normally quite hyper. Anyway, now he's a lump. He can't do any of the stuff he normally does and he's so sad. He's like, depressed. On top of that, it turns out that the accident broke a bone in his ear and its really messing up his balance, so he can't even move around so much anymore.

He's only 51 years old. I can't do anything, and I miss my old Daddy. Frown Frown Frown Frown

I told him that I'd really like him to come up this Spring, even if my mom can't come, and he sounded interested in that. Maybe I'll hook up with my mom and see if we can go halves on his ticket (not that they can't afford it, but he hates spending money on himself, so if we pay for half he'd be more inclined to come.) Plus up here he has his grandchildren to make him happy Smile

There, I just emailed my mom that I really want him to come up and that we'll pay for half. Hopefully he will!

I am so sorry your dad is having such a rough time. As you said, maybe a change in environment will help him get back to speed. Smile

Frown I can't imagine something happening to my dad. I've always been a daddy's girl and he's just 'dad'. He's more hyper then I am Red Face Red Face Red Face

I'm sorry that you had to experience this and sorrier that your dad is. But if the faces of his grandchildren don't brighten him up, nothing will. Hopefully, he'll get to come visit. Smile

I hope he comes to see you and his grand kids. It may be very healing!

Fear not Mx2 -You still have your Mom and Dad. Both of my parents have gone. They were too young. Your Dad is pretty young too, so I hope that he will be able to recover his spunk.
