Please help me, I have nowhere else to go. I am a single mom who was downsized from my job before the holidays.I have literally exhausted every financial resource possible. I am so scared. I have no family or friends able to help me either. I am 3months behind on my rent and car payments. My utilities are on the verge of being shut off. Currently, I am in the process of selling our belongs so we can eat and buy gas for my car, so I can get to an interview and take my daughter to school.We will be eternally grateful for your support,prayers and anything anyone can do. There is no way you can get cash assistance, food stamps, energy assistance, MA, WIC and other community resources available? I, myself, have been in a somewhat similar situation (for totally different reasons) on a temporary basis and am eligable for WIC and MA and Food stamps on that same temporary basis.
Tell us what you HAVE done so we know where to advise you to go, or what to do.

I would turn in the car for what you can get -- maybe a little cash and the buyer assume th payments. You might be eligible for an insurance rebate, too, so cash in hand. I fully supported three children for three years, and two of them for another six years, after I left my ex, without a car. The walking is good for kids and adults alike, even if you have to ask a neighbor to take your kids to school in return for babysitting, house-cleaning, or some other return favor. If necessary walk them to and from school at least until you find a job.
It must be hard to sell household items these days - there's just no market for used stuff. I found that out when I tried to give some items to a local charity shop and found that unless they're pristine they don't have shelf room for them. No one will buy them or even take them for free. They rejected a perfectly good toaster because it had a hairline crack in the plastic cover - no where near the electrics, so not a safety hazard. And I got (an originally) very expensive leather jacket in new condition for $3.
But if you give some stuff away, you will be able to rent a smaller place. Sounds as if you have an understanding landlord. Does he/she have a smaller premises you could move into? Can you do some work for your landlord? Are the kids old enough to get paper routes or do yard work or babysit?
What I'm trying to say is, try not to panic. Look at all your options, not just the simple or easy ones.

Pardon my cynicism, but by including a snail mail address in your original post, it appears that you are looking for more than prayers and supportive e-mails. I think this is more than a bit presumptuous.

The Salvation Army has a program available in most communities to provide emergency assistance with utility bills, and the S.A. can also refer you to other community resources, like job placement assistance and food banks. If your daughter has a school chum that lives nearby, maybe you can arrange for her to catch a ride to school with her friend. I assume you applied for Unemployment Benefits? If you have not, you should. If you did, and your claim was rejected, appeal the rejection... I have had to go through that process twice and won both times. The unemployment office can also be of great help with your job hunt, so take advantage of their resources. If your daughter's father is not paying child support, contact the courts.. if he can pay support, he should be doing so, if he really, truly can't, then his inability to pay helps establish your daughter's eligibility for State assistance like food stamps, AFDC, the school lunch program and health care... the application process is a pain in the neck and sometimes embarrassing, but this is a temporary crisis and it is for families in your circumstances that these programs were created.
