"Big" isn't always what matters to a woman, Ron. Beauty and sentiment also go a long way. None of my jewelry is remarkably huge, but the gifts I've been given are classy and important to me because of who gave them, not because of the size of the pieces.
Of course, when you're a cheapskate who doesn’t' like diamonds, that significantly limits your suitor's options for grandeur...

oh Elexina, when I said the "biggest" piece of jewelry. I meant in significance like an engagement ring or a wedding ring type of thing.
As far as something meaningful. The most meaningful piece of jewelry i've ever given to a woman was a small pin shaped like a 4 leaf clover.
that was for our 6 month anniversary.

Very true about the biggest not being the best...When I was engaged my then to be fiance asked me to go with him to pick a ring I liked...I told him that whatever HE picked was what I wanted...it didn't matter the size or what it looked like...it was what it meant that was special.

Thanks for the clarification, Ron. I figured you understood, I just wamted to put it out there anyway.

Kitty, I agree. Last year we decided I should have a new ring, just because, but when we went out looking together it just didn't feel right. I pointed out some styles that I liked, but I wasn't comfortable just buying it. I wanted it to be a surprise, and something he picked out for me. So I gave up and then months later, on our engagement anniversary, he gave me the most beautiful amethyst. You go, boy.
It's the sentiment, not the price or size.

But jewelry too early in a relationship, I feel, can be creepier than sentimental -and may set a precedent you cannot afford to maintain throughout the relationship!!

i totally agree Elexina, a piece of jewelry after 1 week. Who does that? After a week I think the woman would be satisfied with a simple
"Next Date".

Ha ha ha! Yea, no kidding, she should be lucky with a next date...1 week is too soon for jewelry, might imply long time commitment too soon which scares people. Maybe he has known her as a friend for years and barely started dating? That would explain why the big leap in jewelry purchase. I would think the gesture was sweet...but silently be creeped out. :-p
