ok. i am a grammer retard. i dont know what a preposition is, or how to proberly use verbs, adjectives, nouns, pronouns, or how to make them transitve, or any other stuff that made my head hurt in english class. sentance structure is hard for me to figure out, i dont know the proper way to use things. i write the way that i think makes most sense, but i dont know the rules. i have always had a probelm with this. i can remember bursting out in tears in class one day because i simply could not understand how to label the sample sentances we were given to study. i have tried this site http://webster.commnet.edu/grammar/ but it just made my head hurt and bring me close to that day in school. are there any sites out there that explain grammer in a way that even a grammer mistake like me can understand? i would like to improve my writing skills, and finally understand grammer rules.
The Little Brown Handbook was always very helpful for me. Might I suggest, however, that you hire yourself a tutor or ask your old english teacher to explain it again? If you didn't get it the first time 'round, you really should have a real person try to explain it to you.

Elexina - you have got to be kidding! I still have my Little Brown Handbook from college. How cool is that!
"Matt", I admire the fact that you want to improve your grammar. Too many people aren't concern with the use of proper grammar and unfortunately a lot of high school teachers aren't teaching it properly. That was the main reason I was pulled out of public school and put into a private school.
The Little Brown Handbook is a highly recommended tool...but as Elexina mentions, a tutor will help tremendously. Without someone to explain that book to you, you will probably still have difficulty grasping the concept of proper sentence structure and correct grammar.
