Thank you, Coldfuse. For a very long time I have wondered where and when that adage had imbedded itself in my memory. Your answer brought to mind the fact that Maury Hall along with two others (Mahan and Sampson) formed the core of the Academic Center at the USNA when I was a Midshipman many years ago. When I used Google to determine if Maury Hall was still there, I found that it was indeed and that a Maury Hall 2 had been erected at the U of V to honor Maury's accomplishments.
