Use "then" to refer to a time: the bald man rejoiced in his vision of heaven, because his pastor told him, "There will be no parting then (at that time)."
Use "then" also when there is an "if" that goes along with it. For example, "if that's what you're saying about me, then frog you!" This case can be a little tricky, because the "if" is often left out or merely implied in conversation. She: Go to blazes, chump. He: Then the same to you!
He's answer above really implies an "if," because what he means is that if she's statement means what he thinks it does, then his statement applies to her, too.
In all other cases, use "than."
