What does it mean in Sailing terms to "Bang the corner"? Have a feeling its to do with tacking or Gybing Have you any idea what this is ? Ps There is a Sailing and Yacht racing site which is called www.bangthecorner.com which prompted this query

Thanks for that Not a clue what it means unless it means taking long sweeps on 1 tack? If I said Wheelies ,Stoppies or Doughnuts in motorcycle slang. It would baffle most people on this site ..Wheelies is the first stunt you can do on a bike the other 2 are stopping hard on the front brake only, and getting the rear wheel off the ground and holding it. Perfection is getting it balanced perfectly upright Doughnuts? Steering a tight circle while the rear wheel is losing traction (and the throttle is held wide open) have to keep slipping the Clutch as well Bikes burn out clutches and rear tires/possibly wreck gears too in no time if this is sustained...very expensive!
