In the Uk its an almost obsolete Job at the garage to lubricate the steering and suspension joints which where fitted with grease nipples These days the bearings are mostly sealed and rarely can be taken apart The other way to "grease up" is slang for getting a bribe (cf Greasy sweaty palms) Though the oft said phase in these parts is a "sweaty palm" = Bribe That sound Ok to you? Another way of saying it is "cross my palm with silver" and I look the other way which has been whittled down over the years to just cross my palm with silver and I'll tell you your fortune..or I'll tell you a lie(What you want to hear you gullible fool )

Ah, of course. What I'm reading said 'we' so I guess it made me think of the people. I was ready to assume that it was slang for taking a wiz. Yeah, thanks for all the info.
