I am having to use IE temporarily because the install of ME freezes before completing.

Does anyone know how to insert images from My Pictures into email in IE? What I have is 5 or 6. I tried help, but it wasn't any help.

Thanks in advance.

For email in Outlook Express,
Insert Picture - browse, and go
to where your picture is - Click
on it and OK.

If you go to "help" and "about"
it'll tell you what version you have.

Uh, I guess I should have said, where is the "insert picture" button?

Thank you.

It is in the "Insert" menu in the message window. This page explains inserting an image, as well as attaching a file (picture or other) in Outlook Express (O.E.)

Sending pictures with O.E.

I hope this helps!

Gosh, Dite, I don't have an "insert" option. I'm using www.hotmail.com. It has File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools and Help, but no "Insert." The link says I ought to be able to find it under "Format" but there's no format, either! I don't think I'm using OE, I think this is web-based.

Thanks for trying!

Oh, Hotmail!

You'd have to send a picture
as an attachment... and browse
from there, catty.

Can you use Outlook Express, catty? If so, you can set it up to handle your Hotmail account and then use it to insert pictures in your Hotmail messages. I've used it several times and it works just fine. There is no way I can figure out to insert pictures just going to www.hotmail.com but if you go in through the back door - Outlook Express, you CAN do it.

Let me know if you do use OE and I'll step-by-step you through it.

Thank you very much, Ruth. I have OE, but I don't use it or haven't lately. I have always had problems with it. I think I'd rather give up the pictures than give up hotmail.

Catty, just to be sure we're understanding each other...you can use the Email program, Outlook Express, to access your existing Hotmail account.

You will be able to both send and receive from your current account like always, but using the program Outlook Express instead of Internet Explorer.

The advantage to doing it this way is that Outlook Express has built in tools to attach or insert pictures as well as many other features.

Here are the setup steps to access your existing Hotmail account:

(1) Open Outlook Express

(2) Click "Tools"

(3) Click "Accounts"

(4) Click the "Mail" tab

(5) Click "Add"

(6) Click "Mail"

Follow the Wizard

Type in any name you wish to have displayed for others to see. Click Next.

On the next page, put in your hotmail address (for instance, "cattywampus@hotmail.com") Click Next.

Then, for Hotmail, set it as HTTP mail format.

When you do that, the SMTP box will "Grey Out" with the correct setting automatically put in.
Click Next.

Then put in your account name (for instance, "cattywampus@hotmail.com") and your password. Click Next, and Finish.

The setup process will then offer to download your mail folders (Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Send Items, and Trash folders). Just click Yes (or OK) and let it do it.

Once in a great while, it will say it cannot download the folders. This is usually due to net congestion. If you see this, just close Outlook Express, then open Outlook Express again in a few minutes and it will proceed with the folder download.

I hope this helps!

Well, Dwight, it worked up to a point. The SMTP did not grey, and nothing appeared in it. I typed in "MSN" and went on. Put in my password, etc. but instead of offering to download my files, I got the inbox again.

Something is wrong somewhere, I think.

Thank you for assisting.

Catty, my fault...I missed a step.

Where you select HTTP mail, look for the box that says "My HTTP provider is ______. (It probably says "Other", now).
Please select "Hotmail".

Then continue as outlined above.
