Please give us the name and version number of the graphics program you're working with...

You can get the program's version number by clicking the "Help" menu, then the "About..." item.

Also, please give us the image file type that you're working with...for instance .gif image, .jpg image, etc.

It is sometimes necessary to know the Computer's Operating System, too. Please tell us which Windows version you're running. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 2nd Edition, Windows ME, Windows XP.

Thanks,

Dwight

First, jpg images do not have any transparency. Gif images are what you would use for transparency. You can do a "File/Save As" and save your image in the .gif format.

Take a look at this page and see if it helps at all...PSP - Set Palette Transparency

I am using CorelDraw 8 and started to write out the procedures for that, but realized it wouldn't do you any good, since the tools are different.

I hope this will help at least a little!

Hi Kitty:
Here's a trick when trying to make the
background transparent.
Choose a contrasting color that's not being used
elsewhere in your drawing, fill or draw in this color what you want transparent,
set this as background color then set background as transparent.

Here's an example:

If you "Right click" and "Save picture as".
then open Gat's Av you'll see that the background is really a dark blue but set as the transparent color.

Hope this helps, sounds pretty involved but
really isn't.
Mike b. (AKA Byter)

PS: And as Dwight mentions, you'll have to use
the .GIF type. Frown

Thank you very much, Byter. I did it! Smile I just did what you told me too. Your explanation is awesome. Thank you so much.

Dwight, you explanation really helps too. I just learned that only gif files can make a transparent background. I have learned another new thing. Big Grin

Byter, that is a great tip! I didn't know that either. It makes it much easier.

And I'm glad to see that you've mastered transparencies Kitty, but please don't be transparent around AnswerPool, 'cause we want to see lots more of you!

OK, that's a really bad pun...Byter, can you help me out here?

Have a great day!

Dwight
