...or to the Text Tool in Paint. I've downloaded several fonts, but the one I need the most doesn't show up in either. The other fonts have, at least some of them. I've tried downloading the same font from different sources, and also downloading slightly different versions of the font.

Vista Basic, using Firefox rather than IE,

(Please explain in VERY simple terms. Roll Eyes)

For Windows Vista this is the procedure; you install new fonts from the Font Applet in the Control Panel.

Windows Vista

1. Select "Control Panel" from the Start menu
2. Select "Appearance and Personalization."
3. Select "Fonts."
4. In the Fonts window, Right Click in the list of fonts and choose "Install New Font."
5. Navigate to the folder that contains the fonts you want to install.
6. Select the fonts you want to install.
You can click to select one font, Control-click to select several fonts, or Shift-click to select a contiguous group of fonts.

7. Press the "OK" button to install the fonts.
8. Close the Fonts control panel when you are finished.
9. The fonts are now installed and will appear in the font menus of your applications

Please note: Earlier Windows versions allowed "drag and drop" of new fonts into the fonts folder (Usually located at C:\Windows\Fonts)

I'm not sure that will work in Vista but you can also try that.

I hope this helps. If not please post again for clarification.

I tried both methods, Dwight. It seems like it is going to work, but doesn't. I can't seem to unzip the font file, and a zipped file won't move.

I didn't realize that the file was compressed.

Save the file to someplace that is easy for you to find. Then right click on the .zip folder and choose "Extract All".

See this picture (If the image is to small to read, click on it to enlarge.

Once the font file is unzipped, you should be able to install the font.

Your computer will likely look a little different from mine --> I'm using Windows XP and you're in Vista, but I think the procedure will be very similar.

Thanks, it finally "took." A look here explains why I needed a collegiate font.
