I try to save a picture from online, and it shows that I can only save it as a bitmap. How do I make it so I can save it as it's actual filetype, that it was originally?

When the box comes up asking you to save the picture, just type the name and file type. For example, if the box comes up saying "blahblah.bmp", erase it and type "blahblah.jpg". If that doesn't work, post again so someone smarter than me can answer. This is what I do and it works for me, thus far.

I use IRFANVIEW and it does it all for me. It works great and its free!

Still need help. It just saves it as a BMP if I do what you said. I also have irfanview, I use that for resizing though.. Just can't get it to save right... need to save some gifs, but all I can do it is as BMP, so therefore they will not move.

It's going to depend on what MIME type is being sent to your browser.

What browser are you using, and what are the URLs of the pictures you're trying to save?

Ok I just tried this with a bitmap pic.

Save the pic as a bitmap.
Open with paint
Save as- you can choose what you want to save it as. It says the colors change but they didn't. It will then be saved as a JPEG or GIF file. It works.

If that doesn't work then email me your pics and I will try to save them and send them back to you in GIF form. I owe you... what is it that I owe you now? oh yeah A MILLION!

Clean out your temp and temp internet folders.. Now try and save it a a jpg or whatever !!
