Is there a way I can get graphics or pictures saved on my computer to show up as backgrounds on browser windows?

Every time you open a web site in your browser windows you are viewing what was created for that site. I don't know why you would want to over-ride it with a picture but I think it can be done if you are web design savvy.

You'd first have to create a web "style sheet" for your picture and then save it to your computer. Then you would go to internet options, accessibility, and select "Format Documents Using my style sheet" then select the template you have saved on your hard-drive.

In theory that should over-ride other web site settings.

This is easily done. Click Start, Run, type Notepad SS.css, then click OK (and Yes if prompted).

Paste the lines

<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">

<!--
body {background-image: url(INSERT URL HERE)}
-->

</style>
</head>
</html>

For INSERT URL HERE, you need to substitute the address and filename of a background graphic. For example, you might use C:\My Documents\My Pictures\MyBG.JPG

To apply the stylesheet, open Internet Explorer, then click Tools, Internet Options, Accessibility, and Browse. In Look in, click Desktop, then double-click SS.css. Click OK and OK. The background should be displayed in every Web page.

Missed a step: "...click Tools, Internet Options, Accessibility, "Format documents using my style sheet", and Browse." Other than that, the background appeared the moment I clicked the first OK.

For the record, the exact text I used was

<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">

<!--
body {background-image: url(E:\My Documents\My
Pictures\tn_BlueWolf_8x6.jpg)}
-->

</style>
</head>
</html>

I provided the last step and Tom showed us how to create the style page! Big Grin

See, I knew it could be done. We just needed someone computer savvy to help us along!

Thanks Tom Smile
