Downloaded and installed Google Earth the other day with no problems at all - except - when I close in on an area, it does not come in focused.. I have tried changing my screen resolution, but to no avail....
Any suggestion ??

The reason for that is simple the area you are looking at has not had a High res update
True about most of the area of the program I can see where I live in the UK though its a Night shot yet Wigan to the East is indistinct (and a day time image)
Changing resolutions achieves nothing Sry
We'll all have to suffer with these inconsistencies for a while
I wanted Dublin in Ireland this is a good image
but marred by a massive blob of Cloud where I wanted to look
There is a good forum and Program Update and some news at www.googleearthhacks.com The official link is a non runner for some reason. But they post a working link here (as a "sticky")

If you are after a USA Hi-Res Aerial Map which is of a good quality viewing wise go to http://virtualearth.msn.com (no download or registration)
Big Minus point here step outside the US and its roadmap only
Again MSN say this is only a Temporary situation and Are adding to it "soon" ( Note ..No dates!) They rushed this out To Keep up with the Jones's (Google)

Also if the server is bogged down with too many connections, it may take forever for high level zooms to enhance. That would give the illusion that it's not working.
