A person gave me a disk that has a poster that he created on his mac. I can't seem to open it on my winxp machine. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know what the file extension is as nothing loads for me. I DO have Irfanview tho! How can I use Irfanview???

You could temporarily associate all file extensions that IRFANVIEW can work with by opening it,

Click Options | Set File associations

Click Select all

Click OK

Now try opening the file

If that doesn't work, In windows Explorer, right click the file and click Properties
On the General tab, it will tell you the file extension

Post back here and we'll see if we can find something that will open it

I've been thinking (dangerous, I know), if it was created on a mac, it may well be in MAC, PICT, PCT or PNT format, none of which can be accessed by irfanview

However, If you have less than 30 images to deal with, then there is this shareware product which can convert a large number of types of files into a format recognised by windows, such as jpg, bmp, tiff or gif. You get thirty tries of it

Hmmmm ok. I sent that link via email to myself at work and will download it there tomorrow.

I'm sure that it's only one large image. As I mentioned it's a poster - for an upcoming event.

I hope this software is user friendly or I'LL BE BACK!! (Begging for help!) Razz

I tried to email it to ivnj - but couldn't. It told me that the disk had to be formatted! Of course, I didn't format it since the disk and image did not belong to me. I'm now thinking that the disk may have been damaged!

If the disk was formatted on a MAC then Windows cannot read it.

But MAC has the ability to read PC disks. U can put MAC files on a PC disk so it can be read on both MAC and PC. Tell the owner to reformat a new disk PC and then put the image on it.
