I've got WinXP and I'm having a problem with MS Paint (I've got PSP 7.0, but it's so bulky, and I have no clue how to do what I normally do in Paint, I avoid it like the plague - some day I'll figure out how to use it. LOL).
I can't seem to make a transparent background. I uncheck the Draw Opaque, as it says to do in Help, but I still can't seem to flood-fill the background and make it come out transparent. What am I doing wrong?
FYI: When I click on Image > Attributes, there is no option for Transparent Background like there was in the previous versions.
Please help, goin' nutz!

Click this tool to make the background transparent. The top one turns the background opaque, the bottom transparent.
************************************************************** 12-07-02, 08:21 PM sonnet26 ...tried that; still can't get my backgrounds transparent. Right click fills my backgrounds, but they still show up. GRRRRRRR, now what? frown ************************************************************** 12-08-02, 03:10 AM ivnj The Transparency part in the Attributes is greyed out on my 98SE MS-PAINT! But if yours is not or U know someone who still has one U can just copy it! I did to my XP and it's fine!
Just goto
C:\Program Files\Accessories
My paint program is only 336k so it'll fit on a floppy disk! Copy it to a flopy disk and then to your XP desktop or whereever U want! Then rename it OLD-MSPAINT so U don't confuse it with the XP version and walla! Just double click on it and enjoy!
ivnj ************************************************************** 12-08-02, 09:22 PM sonnet26 ...I just found out MS Paint (WinXP) doesn't have the transparent background capability and I don't have access to previous versions.
I did, however, figure out how to do it in my PSP 7.0. Took some trial and error but I'm good to go now. PSP is da bomb! ************************************************************** 12-08-02, 10:02 PM ivnj Or if that proves too complex after all I could E-Mail U that old MSPAINT!
ivnj ************************************************************** 12-10-02, 08:35 PM sonnet26 ...but I think I've got it covered since I figured out how to use the gif Wizard in Paint Shop Pro. All I have to do is create my icons in Paint, save them, reopen in PSP, run the Wizard and voilá! Background invisibility! Now all I need to do is learn how to create them in PSP in the first place. LOL
Thanks again. ************************************************************** 12-10-02, 08:40 PM sonnet26 Thanks for the links you emailed me. Someday, when I have time (very soon, in fact) I'll check them out and learn what I need.

If you want something better than 'Mspaint' & easier to use, download the following program to your computer:
Type in your address line the following:
Printkey2000
& Click GO to download. ************************************************************** 12-20-02, 01:52 PM ivnj I downloaded PrintKey-Pro from http://downloads.zdnet.com/abstract.aspx?assetid=8666049&node=2192 but it just enhances the PrintScreen key on your Keyboard and is not a paint like separate entity! Paint is easier anyway!

When you have the Printkey2000 Icon on your Desktop, you have to press it to get the Icon into your Taskbar.
When you get the Printkey Icon in your Taskbar & want to save something in your computer you must bring the item up that you want to print or save on the screen.
Then you press PrintScreen key next to the key F12. This will brings up your Printkey2000 Window, with what it is that you want to save or print in the middle window.
You then press Print at the top of the Printkey2000 Window or go thru the 'File/Save as' routine to save what you see in the Printkey2000 Window.
I think it is much simpler to use Printkey2000 once you get the routine down pat.
