Got about 11 slides. Under the 'slide sorter view' (bottom left) - then Slide Show tab/slide transition/advance - I have both boxes checked (on mouse click & auto after)/apply. ..... clicked F5 & have tried to run slide show from all five views in box at btm-left (slide show/slide sorter view/slide view/outline view and normal view - but my slides just don't advance to the next slide. ........... finally I couldn't get the 'esc' key to 'end' the program' - my computer what 'hung' on # 1 slide ........so had to do the ctrl-alt-delete thingie. .......... Pulled up the F1 help and followed their directions with no luck. Am I missing something? Isn't when you click F5 - it's supposed to play? ....... Helllp - anything.

Are you talking about a PowerPoint presentation?
If so, make sure that your slide timing is turned off. On the Slide Show menu, click Set Up Show. Then under Advance Slides click the Manually box. Also make sure that you have All selected under the Show Slides area. Click OK

Then go to Slide Transition. Under Advance Slide check the On mouse click option. Then click Apply to All Slides.

Since Esc doesn't end the slide show try CTRL+Break (button probably next to Print Screen and Scroll Lock.)

Finally, since your F5 key isn't working check to make sure that sticky keys isn't turned on in the Accessibility Options (Control Panel).

If none of these tips help you, you might have to restore the default settings. On the Help menu select Detect and Repair. And if this doesn't correct the problem then you might have to reinstall Microsoft Office.

Note: These directions are for Office 2000. I don't know how helpful they will be for you. If you don't mind, for future computer related questions could you please include in your post the application you are having problems with, the version you have loaded, and whether you use a Mac or PC. That will allow us to be able to help you better. Smile

Georgia85 ......What the problem turned out to be (and I so ashamed) - was the music was causing the slide to stay on screen until the song stopped. The slides were timed for 3-5 seconds, but I had added music to the slides and the songs were 3-5 minutes in lenght - so the slides stayed on screen untill the songs ended.

Now who can sit still when you know your slide is supposed to change within 2-3 seconds - - thats why I thought the computer froze.

I found that 'esc' would end the program if double-clicked.

If dwight reads this - thanx for the printing 'tip' of getting my letter from Word2000 into Yahoo's compose page.

And thanx again to Georgia85 - Who's been a great big help.

Oh! guess I should have told you that we was dealing with Office2000 - the PowerPoint program - on a Win98,2ed,256Ram,40gig Hd
