I had Adobe Photo Deluxe Business Edition bundled when I bought my computer. Recently I reinstalled Windows 98SE on my Pentium III (933 mh, so not the latest) as a result of a long and horrible series of events. (Don't ask. )
Now I can't run my Adobe software. Their site announces they no longer support it. I really don't need all the features it offered, anyhow.
What's a good alternative for me to buy? I just want something so that I can do simple edits to my photos created on an Olympus Camedia camera, and size and save them.
I really need advice here. If I can get a good answer here, I promise to donate $10 to Answerpool. (I used to donate regularly, then I stopped.) ******************************************************** 02-27-05, 03:59 PM Fritzzs I use HP photo, but the only way to get is to have the CD... Kodak can be downloaded off the web and it is fairly good... If you would like, I could send you the HP CD to download the program, but I really do need it back... Go to my profile for my address... ******************************************************** 03-27-05, 01:09 AM babthrower Thank you, Fritzi, but I'd be afraid I'd lose or damage the disk. I have since downloaded a trial version of Picasa2 and it seems to do everything I need. I'm not very sophisticated at this, so I only need minimal stuff. ******************************************************** 03-27-05, 05:55 AM Fritzzs Shhhhhhh... Don't tell anyone, but I did the same.... One note of caution.... If your computer seems its slowing down, go into tools, click on options, and UN-check "Automatic Detect Media"... ******************************************************** 03-29-05, 02:10 AM babthrower I'm experimenting with the features and am still awkward with Picasa2.
I'm crazy about the slide show feature! I have hundreds of photos of Europe from last autumn, and to see them presented on request in slide-show format is amazing.
I'm not too cheap to spend a few bucks on good software, though, so if you know of something better, I hope you'll let me know.
03-29-05, 03:06 AM Dwight There is a really good free graphics program that you can download. It is called IrfanView and can be downloaded from http://www.irfanview.com
The name "Irfan" comes from the program's creator, Irfan Skiljan. This program has a great slide show capability, plus you can create slide shows you can send to others. It can also create screen savers. You can edit and enhance images and it opens a wide variety of media file types.
If you would like to see an example of the slide show, Click Here This will download a ".exe" file that when opened starts a slide show. You can either choose "run" or "save". To stop or exit the slide show, press your Escape key on your keyboard. The download doesn't contain any special pictures, just something I threw together to create an example for you to see.
I hope this helps!
Dwight ******************************************************** 03-29-05, 02:01 PM babthrower Great slideshow! Unfortunately I run under that bow-wow Win 98 SE which is not listed at the download site as a suitable O.S.
I went to make a donation at your site (click here) and I wanted to pay be credit card as I have done in the past but the option can't be selected. (No response when I click on VISA) I don't want to use pay pal. Can I pay by visa? If so, how?
Edit: removed long hyperlink to stop page distortation.

As explained in this post, anyone not wanting to use Paypal can send a cheque or money order. Contact DorianGreyed at gmail.com and he will give you the address.
Thanks again. Smile ******************************************************** 03-29-05, 07:05 PM Dwight babthrower Win98 SE is a supported Operating System. Click on the Win 98 link here and that program will run fine on your machine. I'm still running Win98, too. It does everything I need of it and runs fast so I cannot see any reason to upgrade right now.
Dwight ******************************************************** 03-30-05, 10:08 AM babthrower You're right! I downloaded it and it runs just fine under Windows 98 SE. It's great, now I can look at all the stuff my friends email me, little videos and stuff, and do slide shows as well. And the picture clarity on ordinary photos is incredible! Thanks for the heads-up on that one, Dwight.
And Karrow, thanks for that address. ******************************************************** 03-30-05, 10:46 AM Dwight I'm glad you like IrfanView. This is becoming one of my favorite programs. I have CorelDraw with Corel Photo Paint which is a very expensive graphics program, but I find I use IrfanView much more frequently. I'm always "bumping" into capabilities I didn't know the program had.
Dwight ******************************************************** 03-30-05, 05:54 PM cswchan Here is another free photo editing program by Adobe. LINKY....
It's a starter version but comes with most of the functionality of the full versions. ******************************************************** 03-30-05, 11:45 PM Tree Right you are, Dwight! Irfanview is a fabulous free program and I use it a LOT! ******************************************************** 03-31-05, 01:28 PM Jelp01 I really like Irfanview a lot, too. It works great! But it is somewhat limited in what it can do: I tried to edit a photo of myself to look like George Clooney......didn't work. Frown Razz Big Grin
