I have XP Home. It does unzip files automatically. Is there a utility somewhere in Xp that can also zip a file? I am taking a course and can unzip the teacher's zip files without a problem. Now I need to send a file that contains some basic graphics (boxes and arrows) that get lost when I send the file as an attachment. I think I saw something "compression not turned on" somewhere - so maybe it is there? I don't want to invest in WinZip at this point. Or can anyone tell me a work-around to send the file without losing the graphics. I can't turn in a paper copy. Thank you. MKS

Yes it can. Right click the file in question and select "send to compressed folder". It will create a zipped file in the same location the unzipped file is, ie., if your file is on the desktop, the zipped file will be too. It can't zipped to a closed disc though so the file must be on your hard drive somewhere, desktop, folder, etc...
