Our home is on the market, it has been on the market for 6 months, we are priced well below value, the house is immaculent, and has been upgraded out the wazuuu.
My mother-in-law is very spiritual and told me that she believes it is the evil eye or someone that is jinxing us. We have had over a dozen second showings too. So, it does not make sense... Any advice? What can we do?

TIA,
Tired of waiting to move,
Juana

What is the market like in your region?

Are you using a Real Extate Agent to sell the home?

How does your home compare to the rest of the market?

Have you had housing inspectors examine your home for something you may be missing?

Sherasi has excellent questions. There are often many contributing factors. Maybe people wonder if there is something wrong, since the house IS priced below value.
Sometimes the market is just bad and people just don't want to buy...
Or you could always bury a statue of St. Joseph upside-down in your front lawn.

After experiencing an explosion, the real estate market has cooled off a great deal. The Fed has been pushing up interest rates, which affects mortgages. The house next to my home has been on the market for months, with hardly any lookers. You might ask yourself such questions as: is the neighborhood attractive? How many homes are on the market where I live?
How many have sold? No matter how nice your house might be, you could simply be the victim of timing, selling during a downturn in the market.

You could try:
a spell-casting service.

Or, do-it-yourself. This one might work:

BLESSING A NEW HOUSE
BY SPIRITUAL HOME CLEANSING

Here is a simple procedure for blessing a new home and ridding a house of any unwanted spiritual influences.

Wash down the wood work and floors with Chinese Wash (or Van Van Oil ) mixed up with Blessing Bath Crystals in water. (If the place has wall to wall carpeting and you can't do the floors, then at least wash the wood work.) Recite the 23rd Psalm as you mop or scrub, or some other prayer for blessing that you may prefer. Work from the top floor of the house to the bottom floor and on each floor proceed from the back of the house to the front and finally scrub out the front door, and dispose of the remaining wash water by throwing it out on the nearest street intersection or crossroads and throw it to the East.

Come straight back inside without talking to anyone and burn Blessing Incense in every room. As it burns, use a brand new broom to sweep the house from back to front and out the front door. Some folks also like to sprinkle Van Van Powder at the front threshold and sweep that away from the house. Recite the 23rd Psalm as you sweep, or some other prayer for blessing that you may prefer.

Finally, sprinkle or spray Peace Water in the corners and at all the doors and windows, so that only good spirits and peaceful people may enter. Recite the 23rd Psalm as you sprinkle or spray, or some other prayer for blessing that you may prefer.

After cleaning the place out and blessing it in this way, put down pinches of salt in the corners of each room, calling on the Lord for protection or, if you are in a hurry, just place four pinches of salt at the four outside corners of the house. If you feel that there is someone working against you who may follow you to the new place, bury four unopened boxes of Red Devil brand lye at the four corners of the property with the Devil images facing outward to guard and protect the premises.

You can buy these products for the cleaning

through this site.

Or a spell that doesn't involve buying stuff:

1. Go to any catholic church and take a little holy water from the font. Don't worry, it's free.

2. Take off all your clothes and paint your body all over, with the most terrifying painted images you can imagine. Drink the holy water. Don't worry about people's fingers having been dipped into the font hundreds of times, the blessing has killed all the germs. Then dance round and round the house, chanting:

"Out to-day! Out to-day! That which kills anybody, out to-day! Ye evil spirits, out to-day! and all that causes our heads to ache, out to-day! Anlo and Adaklu are the places whither all ill shall betake itself!”

Keep this up until you fall exhausted. By then the evil spirits should be gone. If not, repeat every day until the house sells.

Or you might bury your mother in law upside down in the front yard, planting flowers over her. It's superstition that's evil, not your house.

You could Fire your real estate agent and list with someone else. At least then when a prospective buyer asks why it's been on the market so long, you or your agent can say "The previous agent did not live up to expectations."

The reality is that the market is very slow in the winter typically. April 1st is typically the ideal time to list your home because people are interested in getting out and looking at properties when the weather gets nice. So in that regard you have only been listed for 17 days of good marketable time period. Try to think of it that way if possible.

And juan is right that the market has slowed down due to an increase in interest rates.

I hate to disagree with Sher but the idea of having an inspector out is a bad one. It is the buyer's obligation to find problems unless the seller knows. So let's say you have some basement problem that you don't know about. You can sell the home and remain free of obligation about any concealed issues as long as you can reasonably show that you didn't know about it in advance of the sale. An inspector could go in and find concealed water damage in your basement or toxic lead paint, as an example, and then you would have to disclose that in the sale or you would have to have it repaired. You have an obligation to report any known problems relative to the house but you are not responsible unknown ones. Most buyers will do an inspection so do not do their homework for them - it also costs about $400. Make everything look pretty and clean and don't worry about home inspectors.

Be patient and don't get superstitious... it's just the ups and downs of real estate.

We live in IL, We are using an agent (did switch agents once after 4 mths on market). She was not worth a dime let alone a 5% commision, plus she was our next door nieghbor and put her house on the market! We were competing with our agent...
Our home is exceptional, not just saying that because it is mine. LOL But seriously, we listed under value and have upgrades, it is imacualent. There are no issues with the home, no defects, faults or flaws. http://cbexchange.com/custommodules/property/PropertyDe...hPage=1&StateCode=IL
That is the URL i do not know if it will work...

We have Joseph, and i pray to him every night. I have had numerous second showings and no bites after that. I get excuses like the house is great, but we decided to go with another area, our grandfather died, we are not giongto be moving, or another house in my area was a better fit.

I am just fustrated, as two other homes here have sold. And now it looks like a fourth... My mother in law believes that our "nasty" neighbor as i like to call him, has jinxed or evil eyed us... I do not know if that is really the case... We do not like him, he does not like us, but i think he would be excited to see us go.

I do not know i will try the other advice i was given, and consider it just the market....

thanks all...

I hope you have chosen not to buy into that supersticious nonsense. Buying a home is a huge investment, and people will not go into it lightly. Looks very nice and seems to be a good price. But once again, the market bubble has burst, and the Fed keeps upping interest rates. Give it time, I'm sure someone will fall in love with it.

Don't fret. I once had an apartment in London that was on the market for over a year! When I finally sold it and had the removers in it, shifting the furniture, the date was September 11th 2001 Frown. I remember playing open house to frantic American passers-by who were just getting the news from New York. Happily the phone lines in the place were still on.

I think upside down burial would improve MY MIL also. Smile

However, since she lives 3000 miles from us, we don't have much to do with her and she can't hurt the family much way out there. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
