I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, much less where to post it. If any of you are the praying type, please pray for my husband's Grandfather. We were told today there is nothing more they can do for him. Background: Ed essentially is the only father figure/male role model my husband had.. He has been nearly assasinated 2 times while serving in a missionary capacity in Nigeria. He has less than 1/4 of his natural heart. He has diabetes, a degenerative spine disorder, multiple intestinal issues, ulcers, and high blood pressure. Last year he had a subdermal hematoma and brain surgery. This year he had vertoplasty. NOW he has 2 different particularly violent staph(sp?)infections stemming from the artificial mitral valve he got 12 years ago or thereabouts. The antibiotic is vancomyacin, and innefective. He's been the glue holding this family together for years. Please Pray. This is a remarkable man, warm and intelligent, with enough courage in his beliefs to put them into action, and the rare ability to discuss his beliefs without judging harshly those who do not share them...he's been nothing but the soul of kindness to me,and nearly everyone who knows him. I am going to have to have "the talk" with my just- turned 6 year old son, who is very close to Papa. He's the only grandfather either of my boys has ever had. JT might remember Papa as he grows up, but I doubt JT(the 6 year old) will ever really know just how wonderful the man was. And Joey(18 months old) certainly won't. We spoke to the doc today. Apparently its a single staph infection, not that it makes a whole lot of difference. He is terminal, and the doc says that if he doesn't pass while in the hospital, He'll be sent home with Hospice care. He aparently isn't in pain, just out of it and completely void of energy. The antibiotics MAY be slowing things, but it doesn't appear that thats really the case. He actually gave a prognosis, something I thought docs didn't do anymore. Apparently, it could be days, or weeks, or even months, though that last one's kind of doubtful. Tom's uncle, who is essentially the power of attorney, is here now, and decisions about where Tom's grandmother will go will be made soon. She wants to move into a assisted living center in town, and we hope that is what happens, as it would devastate Tom and JT to lose them both at once. Again, Please pray fro wisdom, and grace. And most of all, patience and peace. Thank you. But feel free to email me. My addy should be on my profile.

OK, well, after much, much waiting, and Ed's health declining rapidly, he passed from this world the morning of Jan. 18, 2005. This is very hard on all of us, so your support is very much appreciated.
Karrow, your message came at just the perfect time. Thank you.
