Anyone have any information on Parrotlets? I've been told they are smaller than parrots but just as entertaining (without the screeching!) I would like to purchase one. Any information would be aprreciated!

Oh, I'm getting all teary eyed! Ok. Contain yourself, Kirby.

Parrotlets are the smallest breed of parrots, about 3". They don't really screech--the loudest mine ever got was like a high pitched PEEEEEEEEEP! They do have the ability to learn to "talk."

I had a beautiful green-rumped parrotlet a couple years ago--her name was Tinkerbell. The hens are generally fiestier than the males, and although they have fairly small beaks, they can draw blood. Just ask my fingers. I have a male cockatiel, and while he brought it upon himself to nurture and care for his new "baby," Tinkerbell wanted nothing more than to go after him and maybe rip his tail feathers out.

Tinky was also incredibly affectionate. She'd hop up and sit on my chest and let me rub her neck until she went to sleep. She'd bathe in her water dish, and she'd also get in her food dish and kick all the food out on to the bottom of the cage--and about a five-foot radius surrounding the cage. Their droppings are little and not really a problem, since they clean up so easily.

When she was about two years old, for no apparent reason, she started pulling all her feathers out. We know that it was not a boredom or loneliness issue, so it might have been just something mental.
