We raised many baby ducks, incubated them in-fact, when the mommy duck laid eggs on the shore of our pond. She didn't nest, just laid eggs everywhere. They grew up fine, but we ended up having to take them 'very far away' to join other duckies. The first few attempts were not far enough as they kept returning to our house. I'll never forget one episode. My dad had driven them about 15 miles out of town, took them to a nice little lake, and all was quiet that day. The next day, however, while we had a huge family function in our yard, we were all very much surprised when along about noon those darn ducks came quacking back, wings-a-flying, and landed right in the front yard. Well, needless to say, the next trip for the duckies was MUCH further away!
