my husband found a parakeet flying around in our front yard about a month ago and the neighbors cat was eyeing it , so he caught it and brought it in. after we got him in a cage my husband went back out front and found a dead one. apparently someone just got tired of them and let them go. anyway, i'm assuming they were cage mates and i was wondering if we got another one, would they get along. we have never had birds. thanks for any help.

They should be okay. I found this which says a second parakeet provides "an ideal level of companionship."

Here's some more helpful information on parakeets (PDF)

Good luck. Wink
