I know-I know..only roosters crow..but we just culled all the roosters from our flock of chickens... we have 4 hens left (due to yet another vicious stray dog attack) we had TOO MANY roosters before. The hens are all visibly mated. I've seen them all lay eggs. In fact one of them has a nest under the shed right now...fertile eggs too.

I was wondering if some breeds of hens will crow? for the past couple of mornings I've been hearing crowing down by the chicken coop. I'm positive we got all the roosters,(that there isnt one hiding in the bushes) but ...its really weird

I've heard stories of Hamburg hens crowing before...I thought they were making up stories... we have a hamburg so I was just wondering if you knew?
