What do hummingbirds feed their young? We have a male and female that feed at the feeder and then fly up to the top of the poplar trees in the back. I imagine they have their nest up there but of course can't see it. I just got to wondering what and how they feed their young. We also have a nesting hawk, swallows, meadowlarks, blackbirds, magpies, doves, guail, sparrows, small small bird like a sparrow with brown back and wings and a red head and chest. What is that? It really is kind of pretty. We also have a American Bald Eagle nesting about three mile from here. This valley is bird heaven.

I tried that site but it's down for the time being. Thanks for the compliment Tree. Yes, there is nothing more enjoyable then waking up in the morning to all those birds singing. I go out on the front porch and drink my coffee there. I have all my bird feeders out there so I can see them all from there. The quail and doves will come right up to the porch screen. The hummingbird feeder,WITHOUT food coloring is about a foot and a half from the front door.

WOW, Judy! I'd love to see a picture of your garden! It must be so tranquil!
It's funny how hummers get used to you. I hand-held the feeder one time, and the hummers were flying back and forth to the feeder. I then slowly moved it through the sliding door, into my living room (maybe about a foot or 2) inside the door and in they came to feed! It was so cute!
