This evening while sitting out in the hot tub, we noticed some hawks flying in and roosting in our tall trees. Then some more flew in. Then more. Then still more. Now there must be seventy hawks out there. These are different colors, and different sizes. Most of them have white underneath and brown on top. Some others are rust to brown underneath with dark brown on top. What is going on? I have never seen this before. These are BIG hawks. Most of our local hawks are already nesting and have been for several weeks.

Various species of hawks both flock and gather, although a cursory look did not show Idaho as a gathering spot. Are there any forest fires nearby? Hawks often gather at fires to feed on the animals fleeing the fire.
