BandaiJ Enthusiast	Posted Hi we have an african grey female in a large cage and next to his cage is our cockatiel in his own cage. We want to get a cockatoo, but as you know bird cages are very expensive. Is it safe to house my grey with a cockatoo? How can i help them adjust to each other and get along? Does getting a male or female make a difference? Thanks! BJ

Posted Hide Post This site or This page both say that it is not wise to house two different species together. From prior experience, I have also found it happens only rarely. But in some cases you can get birds to bond. It is impossible to tell if a pair of birds will bond or not. Some will fight and pull each other's feathers. Some will bond and preen each other. Overall I would say to just get another cage. I know its expensive, but if you search around you may find a less pricey cage. Good luck in your search!
