I was in Memphis last year when I was fortunate enough to spend an evening in B. B. King's Club on Beale. There was a blues/jazz singer who was pretty good, I remember, but someone told me that the man himself has been known to appear there and perform one or two numbers. Hearing him duet on the recent Ray Charles album brought that evening to mind again - but can anyone answer my question? Does he still appear or hasn't the Club even anything to do with B.B. King anymore? Many thanks.

Yep, the man himself does perform there every now and then. According to the BB King's Blues
Club's website, he played at that club yesterday. The last time he performed there was September 25 - 26 of last year. It was in celebration of his birthday. He doesn't have any performances scheduled anytime between now and 2019, but keep an eye out.

And he's also playing today in Nashville in 2 hours. Tickets went on sale September 27th so you'd need to have both a supersonic jet as well as a time machine.

Jusork, thanks so much for that link. I had no idea that B.B. had a supply of gifts/merchandise with his name/sig on them. I found the perfect gift to get for hubby. He loves B.B.

I saw B.B. King last summer (6/6/2004) at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival at The Cotton Bowl in Dallas Texas. He was great and all the other bluesmen rightfully yielded the stage control to him while he was present. He and Eric Clapton have a long association and it shows as their styles twine together famously.

I have a collection of guitar picks that were used by the artists themselves. They run the range from Chet Atkins to Yngwie Malmsteen to Eddie Van Halen to Alan Jackson.

Both B.B. and Eric's artist used picks are represented.

Did I ever mention that I like me some of them blues? Big Grin

I saw B.B.King and Buddy Guy play here in Cincy 2 years ago --- what a treat! And Susan Tedeski sang with both for an extra bonus --- such a little girl but so powerful.

Buddy was at Crossroads too. He played pretty clean for Buddy Guy. Bo Diddley, Hubie Sumlin, Jimmie Vaughn, Robert Cray, Jonny Lang, John Mclaughlin and about 80 other blues, jazz and rock guitar greats were there as well.

I was in a place with all of my guitar heroes, dozens of greats I have emulated all my life. It was most definitely the blues guitarist's 'Mecca'.

Robert Johnson Muddy Waters and Stevie Ray Vaughn were the only blues guitar legends missing, and they were well represented in spirit.

In short, Yes I was in Heaven. And I also had my wife take my picture in front of dozens of brand new Les Paul Supreme's. Kid in a candy shop, I tell ya! Smile

Leafing through the news sites, I can't find any confirmation that B. B. King was indeed released from hospital today after his overnight stay in Texas. Can anyone update me? I'd appreciate it.

Blues legend BB King is in hospital following a bout of flu but is in "good spirits" and is expected to be discharged on Saturday.

The 81-year-old had a fever after contracting flu and was admitted to The University of Texas Medical Branch hospital on Friday.

"He's doing great, he's in good spirits and cracking jokes," said Tina France, of King's management company Lieberman.

She said King still plans to perform at Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday. - BBC News

That's right. He was due to be discharged between midday and one o'clock local time today(Saturday) but I can't find any confirmation of it happening. Texas is seven hours behind Paris, so that means he would have been out a couple of hours ago; and the news sites are usually all so up-to-date.
