You should have a look and see if they help. *********************************************************************** 08-05-02, 08:39 PM Kelleygirl I'd love to find out ANY connection to my mysterious grandfather. His name was Daniel Matthew Reagan and he was born in Yonkers,NY circa 1875. Sound familiar? *********************************************************************** 09-21-03, 08:37 AM clarebear Kellygirl:

DANIEL M REGAN , 1892 , 1986 , NY NY (1955 And 1956) *********************************************************************** 09-21-03, 08:59 AM Kelleygirl Thank you, Clarebear--that is so sweet of you to help me! *********************************************************************** 10-27-03, 10:11 PM MommyTimesTwo Kelly
I did a geneology for my dad's family, who is also from the City (well, yonkers isn't technically the City, but... Wink)
Anyway, the best info I got was from the Social Services Admin in NYC. All you have to do is request the SSN application for the oldest person you have all the information for. For example, if this is your mother's father, then you'd ask for her application (or she would, if she's alive). Her application will/should have her father's SSN on it. If not, you can use what info is on it to request HIS application, which will have his address at birth and his parents' names on it.
I used this to find out the year my grandmother was born, which no one knew, and the real name of her father, which we also didn't know. Good luck! Smile *********************************************************************** 10-27-03, 10:28 PM Kelleygirl Good idea, Mommy X2, but my grandfather died before S.S. #'s even existed. What I think I'll do next is write to the army; if I could find his sign up info perhaps I could find out what his parents' names were. Thanks bunches! *********************************************************************** 10-28-03, 11:29 AM MommyTimesTwo That may be true, but like I said his information would be on his children's social security applications. *********************************************************************** 03-18-04, 05:44 AM clarebear Kelleygirl and Margaret:
I know it has been a long time but I found something that may be useful for you. (and others reading this too)
This site is a death records finder. Just click on the name and state and it will tell you the SS#. If you can verify the SS# then you may be able to know the state and relatives living in that state or area.
Kelleygirl, I know you said that he died before SS #'s existed but maybe you know another relative you could link to him that DID have a SS# who died.
This link may help you further your searches. Good Luck Smile
I just had to repost here because I used this link to help a friend find someone recently. Smile *********************************************************************** 03-18-04, 08:29 PM Texan-In-Exile Thank you Clare, thank you! Smile
Just today I was searching the SSDI, but the only one I could find was through Ancestry.com and was incomplete, plus you had to pay to see the results! Red Face (They've changed it!) *********************************************************************** 03-19-04, 08:50 AM clarebear Glad I could help
