My dictionary gives "colada" as meaning "good sword" and "tizona" as meaning "sword." You have two swords and two words meaning "sword." A book I have called "The Spanish World," has this to say that may interest you. quote: Then, too, there were those who were to come to Spain from other countries. It is true that not all of these stayed......Others came to fight for a while, for there was something peculiarly attractive and spiritually rewarding in doing battle against the infidel in Spain. In 1330 Sir James Douglas and many of his Scottish knights, the bearers of a casket enclosing the heart of Robert the Bruce, perished in the battle of Teba de Ardales....
Maybe you can find some link in this information that will explain why a Scottish ancester has a coat of arms with a Spanish insignia. doñadiana (DD)
